Automated Drone Defense System
As hobbyist drones grow in popularity and lower in price, they are becoming more of a threat both in military and civil sectors. One of Q Harmonic’s clients is an innovator in this space and we helped them develop their first prototype product which creates a no-fly zone around a designated airspace using RF monitoring and selective targeting.
The scope of involvement in this project included system-level design, power system design, cable assembly design, hardware architecture design, as well as some minor implementation of Python scripts. Design For Manufacturing (DFM) was also a critical aspect of this project, ensuring that the initial prototypes are manufacturable at a reasonable unit cost, with repeatable assembly processes. Additionally, support was provided for deploying a PLM (product lifecycle management) tool for the early purpose of design standardization.
